June 3: 3-4 Meeting at Mrs. Clay's home
June 5: Be at airport at 8:30 a.m. Plane leaves at 11:03. Delta 4259 to Atlanta, then Delta 349 nonstop to Lima. Breakfast and nap in Jorge Chavez airport.
June 6; Board 6:15 am Lan flight to Cusco, arrive 07:30 a.m. Transfer to Ollantaytambo, lunch and rest. Walk around town. Orientation to Ollantaytambo by life-time resident Joaquin Randall, dinner. Reflection session: group expectations; fears and goals. Stay at El Albergue
June 7: Reflection session: Pre-reading and pre-writing discussion. Introduction to Global Education Crisis, Joaquin RandallTour of Ollantaytambo town and temple. Cross-cultural workshop. Dinner and offering to the Pachamama with Quechua shaman. Stay at El Albergue
June 8: Rafting on the Urubamba River with lunch. Return to Ollantaytambo. Lunch again, mayber. Meet local high school students and play soccer game. Dinner. Free time. Stay at El Albergue
June 9: Community project, day one. Introduction to project and team planning. Begin work. Free time with local students. Dinner. Reflection session: Leadership styles and temperaments. Stay at El Albergue
June 10: Community project, day two. Pre-Colombian art and ceramics workshop with local ceramicist. Free time. Dinner. Reflection session: Analysis of local leaders and the legacy of Inka leadership (led by historian Peter Frost). Stay at El Albergue
June 11: Visit the concentric circles of Moray and the salt mines of Maras. Lunch. Hike down the Pichingoto valley to the Urubamba River. Dinner. Circle of questions with local students. Stay at El Albergue
June 12: Community project day three. Lunch. Soccer Dinner. Reflection session: Marketplace of Ideas I and school presentation. Transfer to Las Orquideas, Ollantaytambo
June 13: Community project day four. Lunch. Afternoon basket weaving workshop. Dinner. Reflection session: Marketplace of Ideas II and finish school presentation. Stay at Las Orquideas
June 14: Visit indigenous Quechua village for textile demonstration. Reflection session: the recovery of Inka weaving (Joaquin Randall). Hike back to Ollantaytambo via the pre-Inca ruins at Pumamarca and the scenery of the Patacancha Valley. Dinner, stay at Las Orquideas
June 15: Last day in Ollantaytambo. Complete school presentations. Complete final work with service project, if necessary. Free time or soccer game. Guinea pig and pachamanca “earth oven” celebration with Ollantaytambo residents. Stay at Las Orquideas
June 16: Train ride along Urubamba river to Aguas Calientes. Day hike up the tropical Mandor Valley and visit to waterfall. Exploration of tropical biology, agriculture and fair trade exchange.Reflection session: Rewrite-- what is leadership?Dinner. Relax in hot baths. Overnight in town of Aguas Calientes at El Presidente hotel
June 17: Sunrise in Machu Picchu. Early tour of historical sanctuary, before crowds arrive. Hike to Moon Temple and reach summit Huayna Picchu. Train to OllantaytamboDinner Stay at Las Orquideas in Ollantaytambo
June 18: Tranfer to Cusco via Pisac market and ruins time permitting. Visit ruins of Saqsayhuaman. Picnic overlooking the city. Reflection session: Goal setting. DinnerOvernight in Cusco, Hostal San Isidro
June 19: Tour of Cusco cathedral, museums and QoricanchaFree time for shopping. Reflection session: candle circleCelebration dinner. Overnight in Cusco, Hostal San Isidro
June 20: One-on-one evaluations between students and teachers 11:05 a.m. – 12:25 p.m. Lan flight to Lima Ceviche lunch. Visit to Gold Museum Walk around Miraflores Dinner Return to airport by 10:30 p.m.
